When you’re converting a room of your home into a home office, we hope that we’ll be able to fill all of your office furniture needs. Above that, we hope that the home office you design and put together in your house is one that will provide an enjoyable and comfortable workspace – and one that will increase the value of your home when it comes time to sell!
According to a Builder magazine survey, fifty-four percent of American households have home offices. This growing number has undoubtedly resulted from the increased availability of telecommuting options with employers and the advancement of technologies that make both feasible and economic for employees to work out of their homes.
Southern California (among other locations) is becoming a hot-spot for the telecommuters as more and more high tech, consulting, and internet businesses are springing up. If you’re already talking to your San Diego realtor about selling, then here are some tips that will help you in the California and any other real estate markets as you build or redesign your home office:
- As you contemplate the initial design of your home office, you should take into consideration the size of the room you’re working with and the locations of closets, windows (for natural light) and doors.
- Remember that not everyone wants a home office when purchasing real estate in San Diego, Southern California, or anywhere else. You’ll want to make sure that the office could be converted back to a guest bedroom, and that it is near a guest bathroom as well.
- If you plan to receive clients at your home office, you’ll want to account for the necessary furniture (a conference table or a larger desk) in your design, and if possible you can design a ground floor home office that has a dedicated entryway from the outside.
- If you’ve heard anything about
San Diego and Southern California, you’ve probably learned that
there’s an abundance of sunshine – and adequate lighting for a home
office is essential. If you can use windows for natural light that’s
a great start, but you’ll want to have sufficient lighting fixtures
and select them such that glare does not become an issue.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, you’ll want to select the office furniture that makes you feel comfortable, professional, efficient and productive, and we believe that you’ll find that furniture here at Office Doctor Discount Office Furniture. So while we can’t be your real estate consultant, we CAN be the source you can count on for all your home office furniture needs.
